We Drove to Key West
So after a long weekend at my Aunt & Uncle’s in Georgia, catching up with work and family and scoping out all the spots I wanted to see before Texas, I got antsy in my chair and hit the road Monday night. We got as far down the East coast as we could without falling asleep at the wheel and slept in a Walmart parking lot amongst a sea of nomadic rigs: ugly purple RVs, mini vans adorned with climbing and surfing gear, and would-be plumbing trucks sporting solar panels.
So, the dogs depleted their bowels while we depleted our savings at a number of gas stations along the coast today and. We finally drove into the Keys around 1pm!
For our first night on the keys, we’re going back to basics and tent camping and it couldn’t be more glorious! We’re about midway through the keys - which was a great compromise between nature and man-made attractions; and too much driving versus making it to the tip of the keys. I’m so excited to see everything here, but only a few hours in I already have an album’s worth of seashell pictures, that I couldn’t resist sharing!
