Muraling in Madison

This week I’m painting a mural in a home in Madison Wisconsin. The project is a forest with native trees, plants and animals, so it’s been heavy on the research.

Projects like this are incredibly stimulating because I have to work exclusively on one thing until it’s done instead of bouncing between pieces in my bus studio. I learn a lot having to focus on painting one object, like a tree, in such large form. No matter how many trees you’ve painted before, painting tree bark to scale really helps you master it.

This is one of those weeks where I could use some Vanlife community or a travel partner. Removing the woods/nature from bus life changes the experience drastically. It can get lonely working in a room by yourself all day and living alone in a city. Hopefully I can finish this up early this week to jet off to Massachusetts for Halloween where I’ll have companions again!

2 days of progress on my mural - lots of foliage drafted in and a good deal of the background blocked in.

Axel, the dog.
